Launched by the Kofi Annan Foundation, this prize recognizes exceptional young activists (ages 18–30) who are defending and promoting democratic values. In a time where democracy is in retreat globally, this award seeks to commend those protecting freedom, dialogue, and inclusion.

The Prize Package
The winner receives a life-changing support system:

• $10,000 USD Cash Prize: Financial support to scale your impact.
• 1-Year Mentorship: Direct guidance from a recognized global democracy expert.
• Athens Democracy Forum: A fully funded trip to Athens, Greece, to receive the award and speak at the forum.
• One Young World Summit: A fully funded scholarship for the winner and nine finalists to attend the summit in Cape Town, South Africa (Nov 2026).
• Global Network: Lifelong membership in the One Young World Ambassador Community (20,000+ members).

Eligibility Criteria

• Age: 18 – 30 years old at the time of application.
• Leadership: Demonstrated capacity for leadership in democracy-related work.
• Communication: Ability to participate in public activities in English.
• Support Letter: A signed letter from a recognized organization in the field of democracy (cannot be a family member or personal friend).
• Video Submission: A short video outlining your work and why you chose to engage in it.
